5 Day Mgahinga Gorillas & Golden Monkeys

Our 5 Day trip rewards a rare opportunity to trek Mountain Gorillas and Golden monkey species which are Albertine rift endemic.

While in Uganda, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park remains the only exclusive spot to soak up into this unique experience following the itinerary as below.

Day 1: Arrival – Pick up by our Driver Guide

On arrival, expect to be picked by our guide and transfer up to your hotel of residence in Kampala. Arriving in time like in the morning, you will do the Kampala city tour visiting its major alluring spots within the suburbs. Later in the evening check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National park

Early in the morning after breakfast at the hotel, the breathtaking journey to Mgahinga National Park in the western part of Uganda starts via Kampala – Masaka- Mbarara highway. En route stopover at the equator is included for some information about it, photos, snacks and cup of coffee.

After equator, continue for another stopover in Mbarara to have lunch. Later continue to Mgahinga National Park for check in at the lodge

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga

After morning breakfast, transfer with your packed lunch to Ntebeko gate for briefing. Later the journey to the jungle starts in a group of eight people plus park rangers following the well-established routes searching for these apes.

Locating them, you are allowed for one hour while in their presence. After return to the park offices for certificate award as well as relaxing at the lodge. Note: Only one habituated Gorilla family is trekked in Mgahinga, by name its Nyakagezi Gorilla family.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking – Batwa Trail

Again be in for your morning breakfast and after transfer to the Park offices for guide lines about Golden monkey tracking. Later the journey starts in a group following permanent established routes as well.

These species of Old World monkey family are mostly found in the mountainous bamboo forested areas, so it requires physical fitness for any participant. Take photos and videos of these primates while there are feeding, laughing, playing and more. After return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening you will do the Batwa trail experience, this cultural encounter with the Batwa which include introduction to their ancient life like hunting skills, medicinal plants used and more seems exceptional. Visit the Garama caves, later return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Accommodation is the same as listed above.

Day 5: Drive back to Kampala – Departure

Last day in Mgahinga, early in the morning have breakfast and after check out for the thrilling journey back to Kampala. En route stopover is included in Mbarara to have lunch and continue with the journey.

Our guide will drop you at the airport in Entebbe for return flight back home. End of Safari in Uganda.
