14 Days Rwanda & Uganda Safari

This adventurous fourteen day Uganda Rwanda vacation grants you opportunities of visiting the most spotted exciting destinations in these two nearby East African countries including Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park and Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda, then for Rwanda its Volcanoes National Park popularly known for Mountain Gorillas, Akagera National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport – Kampala

Upon arrival our Safari guide or company representative will meet you at the Entebbe International Airport great each other and after transfer to your selected hotel in Kampala or Entebbe town.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls National Park.

Early in the morning after breakfast checkout at the hotel, embark the Safari jeep with our guide and start the journey to Murchison Falls National Park including en route stopover in Nakitoma for Rhinoceros in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, after one hour session of Rhino tracking continue with the journey up to Murchison.

Lunch is provided en route and after having lunch in Masindi town, continue with the journey to the largest national park in Uganda with approximately 3.840Kms that was named after the spectacular falls located within its ranges. Check in at the lodge. Dine and overnight stay at Red Chilli Rest Camp (Budget) or at Paraa Safari lodge (Luxury).

Day 3: Morning Game drive – Afternoon Launch Trip Cruise

Have early morning breakfast, and after be in for a morning game drive to catch the early risers; this activity will expose you to different Wildlife species including Wild animals like buffaloes Giraffes, lions, waterbucks, elephants, kobs and more.

After game drive return to the lodge for lunch as you get prepared for an exciting launch trip cruise along the waters of the falls granting you chances of sighting different aquatic species like Crocodiles, Hippopotamus, water birds and other animals which draw near the banks of the falls in need of water. After return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Shadow of the Mountains of the Moon

After early breakfast check out at the lodge and drive through the great western Rift Valley’s Albertine escarpment towards southwest past Hoima and arrive in Fort Portal located in the shadows of  magical “mountains of the moon” -Rwenzori.

Have lunch in the town and after lunch continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park on your way to Mweya safari lodge or Mweya hostel the stunning sceneries appear and you will see the wonderful sights as you drive to your lodge. Check in at the lodge. Diner and overnight at Mweya Hostel or Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Game drive & Launch Trip cruise in Queen.

Early in the morning after your delicious breakfast be in for the morning game drive using 4×4 pop up Safari jeep exposing you to different Wildlife species habited within the Park including Wild animals like Elephants, buffaloes, leopards, kobs and more, after game drive return to the lodge for lunch as you get prepared for the afternoon launch trip cruise along the Kazinga channel exposing to other different Wildlife species, After launch trip cruise return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay. Diner and overnight at Mweya Hostel or Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge.

Early in the morning after your breakfast pack your lunch and transfer up to Kyambura gorge for the Chimpanzee tracking session which involves meeting with the chimpanzee primates in the Jungles.

After chimpanzee tracking drive through the Kigezi’s cultivated and terraced hills to Lake Bunyonyi for stunning and exciting boat ride, check in at the lodge. Diner and overnight at Arcadia cottages or splendid Ha buharo.

Day 7: Lake Bunyonyi & Its Islands-Boat ride

After early breakfast have a two hours boat ride to various islands on Lake Bunyonyi to discover Bakiga’s cultural sites, bird watching plus sighting different aquatic species. After Lake Bunyonyi drive and cross to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri-Rwanda, check in at the lodge. Options include Gorilla Nest Lodge or Kinigi Guest House.

Day 8: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes.

Early morning after breakfast, transfer to the Park offices or starting for the briefing which is first conducted to highlight trekkers about how to behave while in presence of the Gorillas and in the Jungle at large, after briefing the journey is started in a group of eight people plus ranger guide and armed officers heading to the jungle in search of these apes, after discovering the location you are allowed to be in their presence for only one hour.

It’s advised that you come with packed lunch from your hotel of residence; time taken depends on the location of these apes. After Gorilla trek return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay, you can opt to do the visit to Iby’wacu cultural village after the Gorilla trek.

Day 9: Lake Kivu in Gisenyi

After your breakfast in the morning head to Lake Kivu for boat cruises and other beach occasions like sand bathing and more. Lake Kivu is ranked to be Rwanda’s major water body. Incredible sights of volcanoes are experienced as you go down into the escarpment to the lake. Relax at Serena Lake Kivu, Palm Beach Hotel or Stipp Hotel.

Day 10: Lake Kivu – Nyungwe Forest National Park

Early in the morning after your breakfast check out for the amazing Journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Have lunch en route in Kibuye and after continue with the Journey using suitable 4×4 Safari jeep. Later arrive in at the Park, check in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe.

Early in the morning after breakfast, transfer to the Park offices or starting point for preparations to the Chimpanzee tracking session in Nyungwe which include briefing, group allocations, clearances and more, after the journey is started heading into the Jungle in search of these primates.

After the Chimpanzee tracking and sighting of different other Wildlife species return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Kigali & the Culture of Rwanda

After breakfast transferring from Nyungwe Forest National Park to Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, a stopover at Murambi genocide memorial in Gikongoro is included then after head to Butare for lunch.

Rwanda’s unique handicraft is found in Butare, this region hosts the precious cultural museum and largest university. Another stop over is included for the tour of Rwanda’s king royal palace in Nyanza called Mwami. Dinner and Overnight at Hotel Gorillas/Chez Lando or Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 13: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Early in the morning after breakfast embark the Safari jeep to start the journey heading to Akagera National Park, reaching in the afternoon have lunch.

After lunch you will have a boat ride exposing you to different aquatic species including giant Nile crocodile, birds and numerous hippos on Lake Ihema.

Different Wild animals like Elephants, Giraffes, topi, lions, impalas and the Burchell’s Zebra and over 425 bird species like African jacana, shoe billed stock and sacred ibis goliath heron, have led to high boosting of the Park. Dine and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 14: Morning Game drive- Transfer to Kigali

Early morning after breakfast you will have an exciting game drive via the Akagera Northward Trail. After game drive return to the lodge for lunch and after start the journey back to Kigali city for overnight stay or Kigali international airport for your return flight back home. End of the fourteen day Uganda- Rwanda vacation.
